The graduate School of Chongshin University, firmly grounded
on the Reformed faith and theological viewpoint of the
Presbyterian Church in Korea, is an Institution of higher
education striving of academic excellence and professional
development. The mission is to train highly qualified
students to be professional scholars and leaders who will
be contributing members in the churches and the nation
through advanced teaching, training in leadership and
developing creative activities.
The Graduate School offers three master degree programs
: Master of Theology (Th.M.), Master of Arts (M.A.) and
Master of Music (M.Mus.). It also offers the Doctor of
Philosophy program (Ph.D.).¡¡
Master of Theology
(Th.M.)
Purpose of the Program
The Master of Theology program is designed
for those who hold the M.Div. degree or its equivalent
and wish to engage in advanced theological studies. In
this program, students concentrate in one area of specialization
with a goal of attaining a high level of competency in
that discipline. The areas of specialization are Old Testament,
New Testament, Systematic Theology, Church History, Practical
Theology and Missiology.
Research and writing skills, which are important to this
program, must be demonstrated by writing a thesis.
Admission
Applicants with a Master of Divinity or its
equivalent degree from and accredited institution may
be admitted after passing the entrance examinations. Entrance
examinations consist of written and oral examinations
in the applicant's chosen field and English.
Requirements for
the Degree
All candidates for the Master of Theology
degree must meet the following requirements in order to
graduate :
1. A minimum of 24 credit hours as advised
by the program supervisor with the
grade point average of 2.7 out of the maximum of 4.3 points.
2. Two years, i.e. four semesters, of residence.
3. A qualifying examination in chosen field.
4. After fulfillment of required courses, an additional
proficiency rest in English
language.
5. A thesis written under the supervision of an advisory
professor in the
department.
6. The oral defense of the thesis conducted under a committee
of 3 professors.
Master of Arts (M.A.)
Purposes of the
Program
The Master of Arts Program provides concentrated
study in a special field or discipline upon the background
of a general understanding of Christian education and
Early childhood education.
The M.A. in Christian Education seeks to develop a wide
range of skills for providing leadership in the educational
ministry of the church and the specialized field of counseling.
This program emphasizes the integration of biblical, theological,
and historical study with educational foundations, together
with the acquisition of skills in teaching and leadership.
The M.A in Early Childhood Education is Designed for understanding
of the integration of child development theory with educational
programming to facilitate the development of young children.
Thus, research in the area word in growth and development,
particularly biblical; teacher/child/parent interaction;
curriculum and program development evaluation. Most early
childhood research is conducted through collaboration
with the Chongshin kindergarten operated by the Early
Childhood Education Department.

Applicants with a bachelor's degree from
an accredited college may be admitted after passing the
entrance examination. Entrance examinations consist of
written and oral examinations in the applicant's chosen
field and English.
Requirements for
the Degree
All candidates for the Master of Arts degree
must meet the following requirements in order to graduate
:
1. A minimum of 36 credit hours (Early Childhood
Education, 30crs) as advised
by the program supervisor with the grade point average
of 2.7 out of the
maximum of 4.3 points.
2. Two years, i.e. four semesters, of residence.
3. A qualifying examination in chosen field.
4. After Fulfillment of required courses, an additional
proficiency test in English
language.
5. A thesis written under the supervision of an advisory
professor in the
department.
6. The oral defense of the thesis conducted under a committee
of 3 professors.
Master of Music
(M.Mus.)
Purpose of the Program
The Master of Music program provides concentrated
study in a special field or discipline upon the background
of a general understanding of church music.
Admission
Applicants with a bachelor's degree from
an accredited college may be admitted after passing the
entrance examinations. Entrance examinations consist of
performance, English and oral examination.
Requirements for
the Degree
All candidates for the Master of Music degree
must meet the following requirements in order to graduate:
1. A minimum of 28 credit hours as advised
by the program supervisor with the
grade point average of 2.7 out of the maximum of 4.3 points.
2. Two years i.e. four semesters, of residence.
3. After fulfillment of required courses, an additional
proficiency test in English
language and graduation performance.
4. A Thesis Written under the supervision of an advisory
professor in the
department.
5. The oral defense of the thesis conducted under a committee
of 3 professors.
Doctor of Philosophy
(Ph.D.)
Purpose of the Program
The Doctor of Philosophy degree program is
the highest academic degree awarded by Chongshin University,
seminary and college level. The Ph.D. is designed to prepare
its graduates for a vocation in teaching at the university,
seminary and college level. The Ph.D. is designed to prepare
its graduates for a vocation in theological teaching and
scholarship by equipping them with the essential tools
for high-level scholarship, by guiding them in a major
research project in the area of their major concentration,
and by supporting the development of skills in teaching.
The areas of specialization are Old Testament, New Testament,
Systematic Theology, Church History, Practical Theology,Mission
Theology, Christian Education and Christian Early Childhood

graduate :
1. A minimum of 36 credit hours as advised
by the program supervisor with the
grade point average of 2.7 out of the maximum of 4.3 points.
2. Three years, i.e. six semesters, of residence.
3. A qualifying examination in chosen field.
4. After fulfillment of required courses, an additional
proficiency test in the
foreign languages.
5. A dissertation written under the supervision of an
advisory professor in the
department.
6. The oral defense of the dissertation conducted under
a committee of 5
professors.

Tuition and Fees
Students are required to pay about
£Ü4,989,000(US$4,228) for tuition per semester. In addition,
the one-time entrance fee for freshmen is about £Ü1,059,000
(US$897). Students are required to pay about £Ü275,000(US$233)
per semester for the dormitory. Tuition fees and other
expenses may very year to year according to price changes
