To complete an undergraduate program,
the required period of residence is four years.
To be conferred a Bachelor's degree, a student must take
at least 140 units with a GPA of 2.0 or above and complete
a thesis within 6 years.
One course credit is given to a lecture/class course meeting
1 hour per week for 15 weeks; for laboratory/practical
course, meeting 2 hours per week for 15weeks. In practice,
many courses are offered to last a semester and will lead
to 2-3 credits upon completion.
Courses are classified into two groups: General Courses
and other courses which are offered by each department.
General Courses are designed to provide the students with
a liberal education that broadens their knowledge in each
of the major areas of human knowledge. Students should
obtain a minimum of 42 credits from this group of courses
in order to graduate.
Each department also offers courses that are designed
to deepen the student's understanding of a specific area
so as to prepare the student to apply this knowledge to
his or her career. Students must obtain a minimum of 45
credits from the courses offered by the department of
their major, including all of the required courses. Music
students must obtain a minimum of 66 credits from their
major.
Those who want to become a qualified school teacher in
Korea must obtain
20 additional credits from the required courses of the
Teacher Training Program in addition to 45 credits from
the courses in their major.
Students must obtain 2 credits of disciple Training Program,
and each student must pass the chapel attendance requirement
for 8 semesters.
The maximum full-time semester load is 21 units but a
student whose GPA from the previous semester is 3.7 or
above can take up to 24 units.
A graduation thesis is required of each student, but the
Department of Church Music requires a graduation performance
instead.
- Grading
The grade for a course is determined on the basis of the
results of the
examination, research papers, class attendance and class
performance.
Grades are defined
as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Grade A+ A0 B+ B0 C+ C0 D+ D0 F
-------------------------------------------------------------
Grade Points 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.5 1.0 0
Chapel and performance is indicated by letter grades,
and in some courses so prescribed, students may be given
a grade of "P" for pass or "F" for
fail. The GPA is calculated by multiplying grade points
by the number of credits of the courses.
