The course is designed to help students understand the English
grammar in depth. Students study English grammar and English
grammar teaching methodologies to apply them to secondary
school English education.
English Language Acquisition
The course focuses on the theories and research in second
language acquisition. The course is designed to give students
a principled basis and sufficient background for reading and
understanding original research in applied linguistics.
Principles of TEFL
The course aims at applying English language teaching methodologies
to secondary school English education. The development of
English teaching methodologies, variables which affect English
language learning and teaching are studied and discussed in
depth.
Seminar in English Linguistics
The course is designed to examine various topics in the area
of English linguistics. Students study English linguistics
from diverse theoretical perspectives, including phonology,
morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse analysis.
Methods of TEFL
The course focuses on the study of the theories of English
language teaching methodologies in the area of English education.
Students learn to read research papers concerning TEFL methodologies
critically; and design an experimental study on the methodology
of their choice.
Seminar in Teaching English Pronunciation
The seminar prepares students to teach English pronunciation.
As they critique and improve their own pronunciation, students
learn techniques to correct pronunciation problems.
English Teaching Materials and Methods
The course focuses on the study of how to use a variety of
teaching materials for English education. Students approach
English language teaching theoretically and practically using
multiple media including audio, video, and cd-rom titles,
computer and internet programs to enhance English communicative
competence.
Research Methods in English Education
The course provides students with a research orientation
to English language learning and teaching by reviewing different
methods of inquiry. The course further assists students to
develop relevant research skills so that they should be able
to formulate realistic research questions and proposals for
their own study of interests.
Early English Education
The course provides a comprehensive understanding
in the theories and research related to early second language
acquisition. The issues are reviewed and discussed in depth
from different perspectives, such as psycholinguistics, neurological
considerations, bilingual education and sociolinguistics.
Seminar in Teaching Practicum
Students are required to do microteaching sessions using current
English textbooks for secondary school English education.
The course aims at offering students an opportunity to practice
English language teaching by preparing a lesson plan along
with supplementary teaching materials.
Teaching English Literature
The aim of the course is to equip students with the
in-depth understanding of teaching skills in the area of British
and American literature. Students study of how to teach British
and American literature in class to enhance students' understanding
of other cultures and languages.
History Education Major
Study of the Christian Historical Understanding
This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity
to study history as a science from the Christian world view.
The students can search for a way
to apply the Christian perspective to real life historical
education.
Seminar in Korean History
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an
opportunity to analyze Korean history texts in various eras.
Also the students can survey the historical understanding
and historiography in Korean history.
Seminar on the History of China
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a good
understanding of the nature of Chinese history. Also the students
can obtain some knowledge to facilitate evangelical mission
in that country.
Seminar on European History
This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity
to study important issues in European history. Also the students
can practice methods to stimulate class participation by research,
announcements, and discussion methods.
Teaching Materials and Methods in History
This course is designed to provide students with an ability
to critically analyze middle and high school historical texts.
Then, students can apply the results to real life history
education.
Pedagogical Methods in History Education
This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity
to consider the purpose of history education by practicing
the results of their findings in real life situations. Also
the students can analyze Korean and world history texts to
ascertain the purpose of history education.
History of Korean Thought
The purpose of this course is to help the students teach the
history of Korean thought in middle or high schools after
their study of Korean philosophy and thought in historical
contexts.
History of Chinese Thought
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a good
understanding of the history of Chinese thought. The students
can gain some knowledge for evangelical mission in China from
this course.
History of Western Thought
This course is designed to provide students with an ability
to study intensively the historical context of Western thought
from the Christian perspective.
The Role of Christianity in the Modernization of Korea
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an
in-depth study of the role of the Christianity in the modernization
of Korea in relation to Korea's historical development.
Study of Korean History
This course focuses on an understanding of the nature
of Korean nationalism by studying the independence movement.
The nature of historical eras will also be considered in the
course.
Study of Asian History
This course is designed to provide students with
a good understanding of Chinese history by studying important
theses in Chinese history. Also the students can obtain valuable
information for evangelical mission in China.
Study of European History
This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth
knowledge and skill for further study by an intensive study
of the important themes in European history.
Early Childhood Education Major
Principles of Early Childhood Education
Topics of this course include developmental principles of
young children, role of play, peers, teachers and family,
music, language, science, math, classroom observation &
participation, etc. in general.
Curriculum Studies in Early Childhood Education
Curriculum materials and teaching procedures in the kindergarten
with emphasis on the metropolitan condition; preparation for
teaching all the areas.
Christian Early Childhood Education
The concept and the nature of christian early education are
defined and the theories for the child's spiritual development
of several scholars are compared and studied. These are applied
to Kindergartens and Sunday schools.
Language & Literacy for Young Children
Students are expected to review children's language and literacy
development and to understand the 1st, 2nd, and multi-language
development. Students learn how to compare different language
programs and methods so that they can help young children
reach the maximum state of their language development as well.
Advanced Studies on Math for Young Children
Students are exposed to theories and practice about children's
math. By the end of this course, students know how to provide
children with proper math activities, to design math programs,
and to make teaching-learning methods based DAP in order to
help children develop their logical thinking.
Science for Young Children
The course provides basic theory about science; scientistic
methods and process; formal science, informal and incidental
science activities and teaching strategies.
Seminar on Child Education and Welfare
Several fields of welfare relating to child education, such
as day care, special child, unmarried mother, child abuse,
and adoption are studied and the policy is dealt with.
Cognitive Development of Young Children
Students in this course learn abut cognitive abilities of
children (0-8) demonstrated in various ways.
History and Thoughts of Early Childhood Education
The theories of educators who have an effect on modern philosophy
of early childhood education are studied.
Music & Art Education for Young Children
In this course, students are exposed to diverse and creative
music & art theories and methods, and learn different
teaching skills. They also apply what they learn to their
own programs by way of projects and presentations.

Students need to understand special needs and characteristics
of exceptional children and their families and learn how to
include them in educational settings and society in non-exceptional
ways.

Students are exposed to diverse and effective church programs
for young children (infants, toddlers, young children, and
their families) by way of theories and field studies and prepared

This course deals with administering and managing skills such
as human relationships, budgeting, staff and equipment management,
etc. which are essential in operating different types of Early
Childhood Programs in effective ways.

Counselling and Therapy theories and techniques, group counselling
and therapy, parent counselling and therapy, analysis of counselling
and therapy examples, especially, focusing on the issue of
the child's problematic behavior.
Comparative approaches to Early Childhood Education

test, classical test theory, and item response theory.
